EKSPLORSI PERAN KESEHATAN DAN KESELAMATAN KERJA TERHADAP KESEJAHTERAAN GURU

Abstract

Occupational health and safety (OHS) is an important component in creating a safe, healthy, and supportive work environment that promotes teachers’ well-being. In the educational environment, teachers face not only physical risks but also various psychological pressures, workload demands, job insecurity, and less ergonomic working conditions. This study aims to explore the role of OHS in supporting teachers’ well-being and to identify various factors influencing its implementation in educational settings. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review (library research). Data were obtained from various relevant scientific journal articles, academic books, and policy documents related to OHS and teachers’ well-being. The data were analyzed using content analysis through the stages of data reduction, classification, interpretation, and synthesis of information. The findings indicate that the implementation of OHS is closely related to teachers’ well-being, both physically and psychologically. OHS contributes to improving comfort, job satisfaction, motivation, and work productivity, while also helping to reduce fatigue, stress, and burnout. Factors supporting teachers’ well-being include job security, social support, OHS training, institutional policies, ergonomic workplace facilities, and a balance between workload and available resources. However, the implementation of OHS in educational settings still faces various challenges, particularly limited policies, facilities, training, and organizational support. Therefore, OHS needs to be implemented systematically and continuously by considering both the physical and psychological aspects of teachers in order to create a healthy and safe work environment that supports the improvement of teacher professionalism and the quality of education.
