PEMBELAJARAN PAI DAN FIQH BERBASIS KE ARIFAN LOKAL DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER SISWA

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Fiqh are subjects that hold a strategic position in shaping students' character, yet they are often delivered in a normative, textual manner that is disconnected from students' everyday socio-cultural reality, resulting in learning that feels abstract and fails to translate into lived practice. Local wisdom-based learning offers a contextual alternative by linking Qur'anic, hadith, fiqh, and akhlaq content with local customs and traditions familiar to students. This article aims to examine the concept and urgency of local wisdom-based PAI and Fiqh learning, to describe learning models and strategies that integrate local wisdom into these subjects, and to analyze the challenges and supporting factors for such integration in character formation. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review (library research) method, collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing books, national and international journal articles, and empirical studies related to local wisdom-based Islamic religious education. The results show that local wisdom-based PAI and Fiqh learning models, applied across various regional contexts in Indonesia, such as Lampung's Piil Pesenggiri, Minangkabau's adat basandi syarak, and various local customary practices, follow a systematic pedagogical sequence encompassing exploration of local wisdom values, integration with religious sources, reflective discussion, internalization of values, and social action as concrete implementation, and have been shown to significantly strengthen students' religious character, including faith, worship discipline, noble morals, tolerance, and social resilience. The article concludes that the intentional and systematic integration of local wisdom into PAI and Fiqh learning offers a contextual, meaningful, and religiously coherent approach to character education, provided it is supported by curriculum redesign, teacher competence in local cultural literacy, and appropriate teaching materials.
