Abstract

ABSTRACT
This qualitative study aims to analyze the actual role, supporting and inhibiting factors, and optimization strategies of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in shaping the morals of students at SD Negeri 61 Banda Aceh. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis involving PAI teachers, students, parents, and school principals. The findings reveal that the teacher's actual role is multidimensional, encompassing teaching, habituation, storytelling (qashas), moral exemplification (uswah hasanah), and collaboration with parents. These efforts show a positive impact on students' daily behavior. However, the effectiveness of this ideal role is challenged by significant contextual constraints. The main supporting factors are the teacher's consistent modeling and partnership with families, while the primary inhibiting factors are massive digital disruption and a suboptimal teacher-student ratio. These obstacles create a gap between theoretical ideals and field realities. The study concludes that moral education success in the contemporary era depends not only on the teacher's role but also on the resilience of the entire educational ecosystem. Recommendations are directed at schools to build structured digital-age collaborations and at education authorities to reform teacher training curricula accordingly.
